2026 Mahindra XUV3XO small SUV gains limited-edition grade in Australia

The Mahindra XUV3XO Black Anniversary Edition has been launched to mark 12 months since the small SUV arrived in Australian showrooms.

The 2026 Mahindra XUV 3XO – one of Australia's cheapest new cars – has gained a limited-edition grade to mark 12 months since it arrived in local showrooms.

Limited to 300 examples, the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7L Black Anniversary Edition "celebrates the first anniversary of the XUV 3XO" in Australia, following its launch at the start of July 2025.

Priced from $27,990 drive-away – $1000 more than the standard AX7L it's based on – the Black Anniversary Edition adds black exterior trim, gloss-black alloy wheels with darkened centre caps, a rear luggage tray, and dark aluminium scuff plates.

It is also offered with Stealth Black exterior paint matched with a matte grey two-tone roof.

There are no changes to the existing XUV 3XO AX5L and AX7L grades, which remain priced from $23,990 and $26,990 drive-away, respectively.

The city SUV from India's Mahindra is a rival to models from Chinese brands, including the Chery Tiggo 4, MG ZS, GWM Haval Jolion and Jaecoo J5.

All versions of the Mahindra XUV 3XO feature an 82kW/200Nm 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features in the Black Anniversary Edition – shared with the AX7L – include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a surround-view camera, a cooled glovebox, and a panoramic glass roof.

The range-topping grades are also equipped with a seven-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a wireless smartphone charger, 65-watt USB-C charging ports, a blind-spot view monitor, front parking sensors, and black synthetic leather-look upholstery.

Mahindra does not detail its monthly sales results in Australia, however, in July 2025, it revealed it sold 4185 vehicles between April 2024 and March 2025, placing it 32nd on the sales charts.

The company has been in Australia for more than 20 years, but it mainly focused on selling commercial vehicles in rural areas, alongside its tractor business.

Alongside the existing XUV 3XO and Scorpio, a new-generation Mahindra Pik Up ute is in the pipeline, based on the current Scorpio four-wheel-drive.

Meanwhile, the XUV700 medium SUV will receive a facelift in Australia in the coming months, where it will be renamed to XUV 7XO, following the naming scheme of its smaller sibling.
